Dinah's room would be fairly sparse, except for a bad habit of hers to leave clothes scattered on the floor: school clothes, sports clothes and fishnets mingle together where she's left them, and it's only the realisation that she can't move faster than Tommy can see that stops her racing to hide the underwear she swears wasn't there when she left.
Other than that; her bed is made, her writing desk is covered in homework, and a Justice Society fan poster older than Dinah herself is pinned above the bed. Photos of her uncles out of costume cover the pinboard above her desk, and the only framed photograph an early one of her parents; her mother in costume and her Dad obviously pleased to be on the arm of the Black Canary.
"And this is my room," Dinah says quietly, shutting her closet door behind her and Tommy. "Can you race out without my Mom catching you?"

Gotham is, around here, much like any other city; Dinah lives in a neat working class neighbourhood, peppered with few local stores, but she's leading him deeper into the city, and the occurrences of vandalism and abandoned worn down buildings begin to pick up. She's heading deep into the nearest slums.

Maybe it just smells different or something.
"This is your stomping ground?"

She gives a small, helpless shrug and nods towards a particularly derelict building. I'm going to get into costume."

"I just don't like coming out of my house in costume. Defeats the point of a disguise."

"Exactly," she agrees, taking just a second to pull up her fishnets. It's a little self-conscious making, with him here. It hadn't been before.
"If I gave away my identity, my Mom really would kill me."
She's moving more stealthily now though, sticking to the shadows, and keeping an ear out for trouble.

"I'd give her away too, right?" Tommy says quietly, following her, darting a little ahead and then darting back to watch out.

"Yeah," he says, peeking around a corner in front of her. At least this is good practice for New York.

They don't need to go far before running into the kind of trouble they were looking for: three tough looking guys menacing a scared looking woman not much older than our heroes. One already has her held from behind, another in the act of snatching her purse when the costumed types appear on the scene.

Dinah, smirking from Tommy's move, flexes her knuckle as she steps forward.
"He'd look terrible in heels," she says, and they lunge at her.
A few minutes later, she's dusting herself down. "They're not always that weak," she says, almost apologetic.

She nods to the woman and suggests she "call the police", before offering a hand to Tommy to head back out of the alley.
"Some nights it's all muggings. Which can be boring."

Ahead of them is a large, abandoned factory, with a couple of large, suited gentlemen standing outside, both with guns and both looking out of place in this neighbourhood.
Dinah heads abruptly into a side street and stops.
