raptorcanaria: ([young] putting up with it)

[OOM: Crimefighting date in Gotham]

Dinah's room would be fairly sparse, except for a bad habit of hers to leave clothes scattered on the floor: school clothes, sports clothes and fishnets mingle together where she's left them, and it's only the realisation that she can't move faster than Tommy can see that stops her racing to hide the underwear she swears wasn't there when she left.

Other than that; her bed is made, her writing desk is covered in homework, and a Justice Society fan poster older than Dinah herself is pinned above the bed. Photos of her uncles out of costume cover the pinboard above her desk, and the only framed photograph an early one of her parents; her mother in costume and her Dad obviously pleased to be on the arm of the Black Canary.

"And this is my room," Dinah says quietly, shutting her closet door behind her and Tommy. "Can you race out without my Mom catching you?"

Tommy winces a little. "Oooh, ouch. But it's cool you worked through it, right?"

"That's what parents do, though, right?" he asks, pleasantly. Out of the corner of his eye, though, he's watching Gotham as much as he's watching Dinah. He's curious.

It's a lot like New York, too; similar enough that it gives Tommy a little pause. The weird thing, though, is that the farther into the slums they go, the less like New York it feels, even though it looks more similar.

Maybe it just smells different or something.

"This is your stomping ground?"

"Alright," Tommy says. He changed into his back in Milliways, so he's good. "I'll keep on the lookout."

"Definitely. It's what we have the clubhouse for." He refuses to say 'had.'

He's not watching her or anything; he's really trying to be good.

"I'd give her away too, right?" Tommy says quietly, following her, darting a little ahead and then darting back to watch out.

[[Meant to type "It'd." Oops.]]

"Yeah," he says, peeking around a corner in front of her. At least this is good practice for New York.

Tommy zips in, taking the purse and the woman away from the baddy to give Dinah an opening to beat up on the muggers, grinning all the while.

"It's okay. It was a good start, you know?"

[identity profile] quicksilverfast.livejournal.com 2009-01-29 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's not bad," Tommy says, squeezing her hand. "Maybe there'll be robots or something."

"Ugh, let's hope we don't run into many of those?" Even Tommy remembers when they brought Spiderman in.

"Don't blame you... I don't want to get anywhere near to neurotoxins if I can help it."

Tommy follows her lead and is waiting when she gets there.

"Mob?"
