Quick stock check then:
1) Dinah's return to crime fighting pits her instantly against an alien invader. so much for casual return to the game.
2) Said alien invader turns bystanders, and Dinah's own foot to glass. This reverses when she shatters the alien's own glass body.
3) On hearing another alien was attacking in Florida, Dinah hightailed it on her bike so fast she's gt serious wind burn.
And then, then, she walks right into a trap set by the alien's pal; and now she's stuck in the middle of an everglade with a body that appears to be made of wood.
Still, at least she's not alone; there are four other costumed heroes who walked right into the same trap which makes her feel less like an idiot.
She's also relieved that it's the new Flash who says what she was trying not to say herself:
"I feel like such a sap."

She wishes she could faceplam herself after saying that line before she could stop herself, but her nerves are wearing thin; the poor attempt at humour, she knows, is just a defence mechanism as she tries to fight off panic.
She is so out of her league.
Then one of the other heroes - Aquaman, she thinks, the King of Atlantis - shouts in surprise as a noise nearby announces the appearance of a sixth wooden being - also this one taller even than the Martian.
If turned them to wood, so it's enough to suppose it's like the thing that turned people to glass, but not very like.
"He doesn't look anything like the creature I beat," she whispers to her companions. "Is he..."

What he would like to argue with is the order the alien gives them to follow. All the way to Antarctica, apparently, which considering the day he's been having, doesn't surprise Hal. Not much could at this point. But that doesn't mean he likes it.
Fortunately, it's only a few minutes later that the Martian bumps into him somehow, freeing the ring from his wooden shell.
Great. That's a start. Except Hal still can't turn his head, and the only person he can see is Black Canary. If he could only muster his will better, he might try something, but the alien has some kind of influence dampener in effect, and try as he might, Hal can't get out from under it.
Fine, Black Canary it is. He hopes the blonde can come up with something to get them out of this.
A ray of green flashes ahead....

Or ask for help from one of the men.
She can't turn her head, but out of the corner of her eye she sees Aquaman knock into the Martian Manhunter; something she couldn't do, so maybe he has slight protection against the mental control?
The next thing she knows, there's a flash of green and her neck is suddenly loose, and her throat free.
Already though, their alien controller mentions something about dissension. She has to act now.
The new Flash.
Dinah doesn't have all her lung capacity, but she has some. She pitches her cry, and:
"EEEEEEEEEEEE!"

He's just a blur of red at that point, but Hal has to admit, the Flash really gets the job done. Sounds like he banged up his fists something fierce, though. Hal's punched a few trees in frustration in his day, so he knows how much the guy must be hurting.
Of course, when the blonde starts moving to give him a hug or whatever, Hal steps on the moment nice and hard:
"We all did it, including Mr. Domino-Effect over here. Nice going--Aquaman, isn't it?"
That might be the Flash, but Hal can move fast too.

The grin she had been aiming at the Flash, she shares with all of them, including the new Green Lantern.
"What a team!"

"So this leaves two more of those meteors intact. We'd better track them down and then." He looks at the rest of them.
"Maybe we should turn them over to the military. They must have a facility somewhere that can keep these things under lock-and-key."

"It's late," she observes, partly for the military's benefit and partly because she has to be up early to help her Mom set up the new store. "We can call them but I have a feeling that no one's going to be moving over neutralised threats right now.
"What do you say we meet them tomorrow? Together?"
It's agreed, and they part for their iwn business, their own lives.
A team. She's found herself an actual, genuine team.
